Microactivism to change the world with Inés Echevarría

”There is no need to shout, to be in demonstrations all day long, or to fight with the world.”

In 2016, Inés Echevarría moved from the world of marketing and business administration to found Uttopy, a solidarity and sustainable project where fashion and training are the axes to promote causes such as gender equality or the fight against climate change, among others. Inés defines herself as a ‘changemaker’ and micro-activist, but how do these terms fit in a world where change is urgent on a large scale? That is what we want to discover with her in Nal3Talks.

Doing things for the “I want to” and not for the “I must”.

Inés is clear: companies do not have values, people do. Reflecting an attitude of change and commitment to causes such as sustainability or diversity involves involving the team with realistic actions that are consistent with your business project. Basically, this is part of his work with Uttopy: to help companies make a positive impact on the world as much as they can. It’s a philosophy that is very applicable to our day-to-day lives and in a world with problems that are beyond us. Normally, it seems to us that our actions do not have the power to positively influence any cause and impotence invades us to the point of considering doing nothing.

However, in the midst of eco-anxiety there is a message of hope transmitted by Inés: every small change that is born from sincere will and not from duty, adds up. You can’t miss this interview in which we talk with her about micro-activism, the famous greenwashing and several simple and affordable tips to help the planet. If we have learned anything from this pleasant chat is that change comes through communication and education and it is possible for each person to influence for the better, even if it is only in a small way.
